Just wondering why the Intamin wood coasters got this nick name?

Without going into great detail, the track lamination is made in a
shop, rather than hand laminated by carpenters as the coaster is
built.
This premade track is then lowered onto the constructed trestle by
crane and then bolted into place. Thus once they "plug in" all the
various sections of premade track, it's ready to play. 8-)

The official name is Prefabricated Track.

It's a technique invented & patented by the Werner Stengel bureau. Simply
put, the rails are cut out of large blocks of wood, by laser.
The manufacturer of this "track" is Holzbau Cordes.
For the past three rides of this type (Colossos, Balder & El Toro), Intamin
built the trains.

Why the nickname "plug & play" ? Well, because the trackparts arrive at the
park ready to use...just plug them together, and it's play time.
It used to be a popular term in the computer world, when basically no
drivers or software was neccesary to use a peripheral such as a printer, a
mouse, a scanner, etc.

Except that in the computer world, it often didn't work quite that way,
and so was more often changed to "Plug & Pray". Especially since if it
doesn't work, you're often up a creek without a paddle, unable to remove
the offending device driver or to install the right one...
