The look of the board in Google Groups changed today when I opened the page. I don’t care for it. I liked the simpler look to scan what the recent posts are.

I know others will say this, but here it is what it is. Use a newsgroup
reader like thunderbird, etc. with a free news server like
eternal-september. There are several programs and servers out there.
BTW I had to use Google Groups earlier this week because the free
server, eternal-september apparently was down. GG would drive me nuts.
But I guess you can get used to anything.

The only newsgroup I read is RRC, so I can live with google for the little is use it for. The most recent design they had used for quite some time, and served its purpose fine for me.

_______

Nothing contrived by humans "is what it is".

Loser expression.

Mine switched the other day but I was able to switch it back to "classic."

I tried to, but I still don’t have the button to do so.

________

Agreed - the design of late worked fine for years. This was change for the sake of change.

Also, while I can use the Switch baCk to Classic button, it does not work on my tablet - it just returns to this disaster of an interface. Not to mention, on my tablet, the boue Post button is cut off in both landscape and portait orientation holding the device.

So while it doesn’t show the option to switch back on my phone, it does on my tablet, but when I do, it doesn’t actually switch it back for me either.

So recently (the past week), I no longer have the reply/post option in each thread on the iPhone. On the iPad, I still can, whether in landscape or portrait. On the iPhone, I was able to in landscape, not portrait. I also can’t create a thread on the iPhone. Anyone else have this problem? I’m still signed in on the iPhone.

Using my Galaxy s8+..... RRC is basically unusable now on my phone... And they've also ruined the search feature, somehow.
One of the greatest things RRC has going for itself I think is being able to look back at TR's and such from the early and mid 90's and now even that is a pain in the ass :(

Don’t know if this helps or not...

But maybe it’s time to move on from Google Groups.

First, set up a free account at eternal-September.org.
Next, find yourself a newsreader. This message was posted using NewsTapLite
on an iPhone SE. It’s not perfect but it enables me to at least see and
post to the group when I am on mobile.

Now if I could figure out how to synchronize it with my .newsrc file on my
desktop machine, that would truly be great. Even better if I could figure
out how to import my .sig!

Dave, I can *read* rrc on google groups from my phone just fine, I just don’t have the ability to post a new thread or comment/respond on an existing thread, like I can on the iPad or computer. I was able to on the phone when the new google groups originally started, if I turned my phone landscape, but that only lasted a few weeks.
