Does the park do any behind the scenes tours or anything extra like that? Planning a two day visit to the park this summer and was wondering about stuff like that since I’ll have the time.

Not really. In the past, as part of the Boy/Cub Scout campout, we would get a backstage tour of the Beast. We met at the line entrance, then were taken back along the maintenance road. We would get to stand at the entrance and exit of the tunnel and walk around a bit back there. Then we'd get to go over to the shed by the second lift hill and watch. When the train contacts the chain so that it is then pulled by the chain, the chain violently jumps out of the horizontal wooden return trough that it was running through. Really cool to watch.

Now that the campout is a public event, I doubt that they do that tour anymore. It's not listed as part of the itinerary. They really don't do any other backstage tours, although if you contact them you might be able to arrange something private, for a $$$$$$price$$$$$$. I don't think the JDRF walk goes anywhere other than paths through the park.

I’m not interested in any kind of private tour or anything super expensive. Was just wondering if any extras were available since I’ll have the time with 2 days. Tour of the Beast would’ve been cool though, it’s a favorite of mine and I had signed up for the behind the scenes Beast tour during the ACE 2007 Con, but my time slot was cancelled due to a rainstorm that happened not long before, and the ground was too muddy/dangerous for a walking tour back there.

Pity you just missed out. Coasterstock was this weekend and I know they do
some tours and such for that. I didn't attend and so haven't seen
everything they did, but I know I've seen lots of photos and video from
inside the Flight of Fear building posted in the last couple of days.

Hmmm...I have some video floating around from various tours I've taken over
the years, including the Flight of Fear building, The Beast (it was kind of
comical to watch a bunch of enthusiasts wait for a train to come along so
they could get a photo of the train going through an underground
tunnel...), and Phantom Theater while it was being stripped out. I should
track some of that stuff down and make it available online.
