What rides have you been on where the first time you rode them, you were truly shocked at how good they were?

Some that come to mind for me....

Amazing Adventures Of Spider-Man. First rode it during the passholder preview time at the park. Jaw dropping amazing at the time. Still is really.

Forbidden Journey. 11 years after first riding the Spiderman ride. Also amazing.

Space Roller. After hearing stories about good a Top Scan is, finally riding Floyd & Baxter’s Space Roller at the Westchester County Fair in 2001 was beyond amazing. Even my friend who I was with said it was the best ride he had ever been on as we exited the ride. Still one of my very favorite rides of all time.

Skyscraper. The one that was at Congo River Golf in Orlando. Going over the top the first revolution, and with just a 5 point harness on is a time I’d never forget. Still can’t believe those rides ran with only a cloth harness back then. $20 bucks for a ride was an insane price back then (even still today honestly), but more than worth it for that amazing first ride.

Volcano: The Blast Coaster. After waiting 3.5 hours on line to ride back in late 1998, I never thought I would’ve said it was worth it. Until the ride started. That initial launch, u turn and back up the mountain and out the top was like nothing ever experienced before. Totally worth the 3.5 hour wait (which is the longest I’ve ever waited for a ride)

Gatekeeper was better than I thought it would be. I wouldn't go as far as to say I was shocked, but it was definitely fun, while I expected to be bored by its incredibly slow transitions and turns.

I haven’t been on Gatekeeper yet (been over 10 years since I’ve last been to CP), but my first B&M Wing Coaster was Thunderbird at Holiday World, and I definitely enjoyed it a lot more than I was expecting to. Not shocked, but definitely better than I thought it would be.

Easy answer for that one.

Steel Dragon at Waldameer.

I wasn't expecting much from that ride, but it may have been the best
new-to-me ride of that season. Certainly the opposite of anticipointment!

I can’t believe I forgot about this one:

Lightning Run at Kentucky Kingdom. That coaster should not be *that* good. It’s insane.
