Lakemont 2018... 2019.

Surprising no one but saddening many (including me), Lakemont will not open
in 2018. They are claiming to be getting ready for a 2019 opening. I would be
very glad to see it but I don't think anyone should set their expectations
too high.

Although the article gives a legit sounding reason for the delay, I have to admit I’m pretty skeptical at this point.

This article is a bit better - it has quotes from the Blair County commissioner's meeting.

Anyone been past the park this spring/summer... any noticeable work being done?

I may swing by in the next week or so. I have a couple of trips planned that go "near" there.

Did your trips materialize to take you near there and if so, do you have anything to report ?

Lakemont's ferris wheel and Twister have been acquired by Midway Park (now Midway State Park, as it is owned by the State of NY) and they're looking for funds to help get the rides opened for 2019. Great news for everyone involved, and proof that government ownership in the amusement sphere can work.

Well, now I'll have a reason to go back to Midway!

I'll be driving by Altoona on Monday or Tuesday, so I'll have to swing by Lakemont and see what's going on.

According to IRM Rides’ Facebook page, the Toboggan has been sold. No word to whom yet.

Toboggan was the 1st Carnival Coaster.
It had been on my page for a while here.
http://www.nogodforme.com/USA_Carnival_Coaster_Ignore_List.htm
But I've since replaced it with this one.
https://rcdb.com/268.htm
Wild & Wooly Toboggan
Little Amerricka (Marshall, Wisconsin, USA)

What can we say. If someone wants to operate the 1st carnival coaster again, then more power to them and I'll tell everyone it's operating.

Otherwise, this coaster is what started all these rides that go up 90 degrees and have a small foot print with a "car" instead of a train.

Follow my page and you'll see that Dollywood was next with Mystery Mine.

Toboggan certainly wasn’t the first carnival coaster. Traveling coasters existed long before the Toboggan. Toboggan is certainly one of the most fun and unique though, and there are not many left. Glad this one is getting a new home.

You don't have Breaker's Edge Water Coaster on your list.

I was able to drive by a week or two ago. Some work is being done - people were actively working at the time I swung by. The Toboggan was still there, but that was only sold a few weeks ago, so I wasn't surprised by that.

I haven't been near the park myself, but based on what people who have gotten
a look at it are saying on Facebook, it still doesn't look like anything much
has happened.

Their Facebook page has been pretty active the past week or so. New map posted, prices, etc. looks like a ride all day now includes everything but batting cages- the mini golf courses, the water park, go karts, all rides including Leap the Dips, for only $19.99! I think that’s a great deal and is actually better than the former ride all day option of 11.99 which didn’t include Leap the Dips or mini golf. It’ll be interesting to see if the redo of the park works for them, and I hope it does.
